Monster Hunter World jest następną odsłoną święcącego triumfy popularności cyklu gier RPG akcji, nad którym pieczę sprawuje firma Capcom. Gracz wciela się w tytułowego łowcę potworów, którego zadaniem jest zbadanie nowo odkrytego kontynentu znanego jako „Nowy świat” i poznanie jego tajemnic, a także ubijanie coraz potężniejszych bestii w ramach realizacji kolejnych zleceń przyjmowanych w toku przygody.

Filarem rozgrywki nie jest jednak eksploracja, a eliminacja różnorodnych bestii. Każdy adwersarz dysponuje indywidualnym zestawem mocnych i słabych stron – zwycięstwo na placu boju gwarantuje zatem uważna obserwacja zachowań oponenta oraz opracowanie odpowiedniej taktyki działania z uwzględnieniem nie tylko jego słabości, lecz także topografii terenu i roślinności porastającej pole bitwy. Dzięki temu kiedy zajdzie taka potrzeba, możemy na przykład schować się w gęstej i wysokiej trawie. Ponadto kraina została zaprojektowana w taki sposób, by sprawiała wrażenie żywego ekosystemu, zatem nic nie stoi na przeszkodzie, by napuścić na siebie dwie kreatury i w ten sposób osłabić lub nawet unicestwić cel misji bez wychodzenia z bezpiecznej kryjówki.

Co więcej – truchła powalonych przeciwników są źródłem zasobów, dzięki którym tworzymy ulepszenia do broni i zbroi w oparciu o rozbudowany system craftingu.
