Manolis Rasoulis (1945–2011) was a Greek lyricist, composer, singer, writer, and journalist, born on September 28, 1945, in Heraklion, Crete. Renowned for his exceptional talent in songwriting, he blended traditional Greek music with contemporary genres like rock, pop, and folk, creating a distinctive sound that resonated widely.
Rasoulis collaborated with prominent musicians such as Manos Loizos, Nikos Xydakis, and Christos Nikolopoulos, and his songs were performed by artists like Vasilis Papakonstantinou, Haris Alexiou, and Nikos Papazoglou. His work also extended to film, contributing to soundtracks like My Life in Ruins (2009). A multifaceted figure, he wrote numerous articles and was regarded as a cultural icon in Greece.
Rasoulis died of a suspected heart attack on March 5, 2011, in Thessaloniki, discovered in his apartment in the Toumba area. His daughter, Natalie Rasoulis, is a notable singer known for her work with the band Septic Flesh.
